Pastoral Interventions

At Henlow Academy we are able to refer students to a range of interventions to support them.  These include:

Mindfit - For groups of 6-8 students. The focus of the sessions can be tailored to each group. This can be self-esteem, SEMH, making good choices, attendance, engagement in learning etc.

Horse Therapy - For groups of 6 students. The focus of the sessions can be tailored to the group to help develop emotional intelligence. It works well for students who have had significant trauma or bereavements.

Art Therapy - For up to 10 students. A mindfulness intervention focusing on the process rather than the final piece.

Boxing Saves Lives - For up to 10 students. The intervention focuses on students who are either at risk of exclusion,  have low attendance, lack engagement in school or have a higher risk of susceptibility of exploitation.

Counsellor - 1 to 1 sessions for those who have experienced trauma and/or bereavement focus.

Food Etc. - A family based intervention with varying focus such as those struggling with behaviour at home, single parent families etc.

Greensands Trust (Year 8 and over) - For up to 10 students focusing on mindfulness. There are different projects on offer to suit varying needs from more hands on work in a forest, understanding the importance of woods and forests to society, to bug hunts and mindfulness walks.
