School Closure - Wednesday 14th December

Dear Parents/Carers

As many of you will be aware, the roads leading directly to the school site have been significantly affected by snow and ice including Church Road and Groveside. Unfortunately these roads have not been treated by Central Bedfordshire Council and, at the time of writing, we have been unable to ascertain if there is any plan for them to be treated. In addition, there are roadworks at the top of Church Road causing further congestion in an already challenging circumstance.

Therefore, in collaboration with the Trust Board, we have had to make the difficult decision to close the school tomorrow, Wednesday 14th December. We have worked hard as a school to ensure that our site itself is safe but unfortunately our risk assessment shows that getting to and from the school is not.

As temperatures are due to remain low, there is a possibility that we will remain closed on Thursday 15th December if the road conditions do not improve. However we will make decisions on a day by day basis and if it is at all possible to open the school safely, we will do so.

We will ensure that there is a full day of online learning provided and students will be expected to login to every lesson.

This is not a decision that we have taken lightly however the safety of our students and staff has to be the absolute priority in these situations.
