History

History is a highly popular subject at Henlow, with a high proportion of students choosing to take it at GCSE. History is about more than just remembering random dates and facts about the past. As a subject discipline we learn to analyse important events in Britain and the wider world, and judge how they have shaped the world we live in today. We learn to identify why historians use sources and how they use them to full effect; read historical interpretations to understand why historians reach their conclusions about the past. As a school we encourage our students to develop strong investigative skills and their critical thinking skills along with a well-rounded grasp of historical knowledge.
