Within the Science department we are keen to encourage engagement in STEM through extracurricular activities for instance Science club, participation in Science week, engagement with outside agencies, trips etc.
We aim to provide students with high quality engaging lessons that inspire them to learn Science and to develop their skills to understand and make personal decisions on socioscientific issues of the future.
At KS3 students are grouped in mixed ability tutor groups in year 7 and 8 then moved into bands for year 9. At KS3 Science lessons are taught in our fantastic laboratory facilities. We follow the Exploring Science scheme of work at Key stage 3 and encourage the active engagement of students through practical work to underpin their understanding.
At Key Stage 4 we teach the AQA Trilogy specification and offer both combined and triple science options. The groups are broadly banded and timetables for triple Science students reflect the need for additional teaching time for the separate science route.
